UV-C LED Disinfection for Mobile Water Systems at Large Events
Overview
In collaboration with a mobile water infrastructure manufacturer, AquiSense has supplied 135 PearlAqua Deca 24C4 water disinfection systems for use at the largest global soccer tournament in North America. Selected for their ease-of-use and straightforward integration, the UV-C LED systems provided reliable, mercury-free water treatment across multiple high-traffic event locations.
Problem
Large public events create challenging operating conditions for mobile water and wastewater treatment systems. Units must operate continuously under fluctuating demand and intermittent flow conditions. Traditional mercury-based UV systems can struggle in these applications due to warm-up periods, sensitivity to frequent cycling, large footprints, and tedious maintenance requirements. The customer required a compact and dependable solution that could integrate seamlessly into their mobile platforms without adding operational complexity.
Innovation
AquiSense supplied the PearlAqua Deca 24C4 as a compact, instant on/off UV-C LED disinfection solution. Unlike conventional mercury UV lamps, the system operates instantaneously, making it highly effective for intermittent conditions common in mobile infrastructure. The plug and play design allowed the customer to incorporate the technology without requiring a major system redesign. The mercury-free units also supported sustainability initiatives while reducing maintenance and mercury handling concerns associated with traditional UV systems.
Result
The customer successfully deployed 135 mobile water distribution units equipped with PearlAqua Deca 24C4 systems. Demonstrating how UV-C LED technology can improve sanitation reliability, support sustainability objectives, and enhance operational flexibility for mobile infrastructure applications.
