COM-W Potable Water Unit for Emergency Response and Disaster Relief: Resylia
Overview
AquiSense Inc. has partnered with German disaster relief systems manufacturer Resylia GmbH to integrate the PearlAqua Deca 30C into their COM-W mobile water purification system. Designed for rapid humanitarian aid response, the COM-W is a compact, lightweight, and rugged unit that provides safe drinking water during emergency and natural disaster scenarios. By utilizing AquiSense’s UV-C LED disinfection technology, the COM-W can provide over 14,000 liters of clean water per day from any non-saline water source.
Problem
Emergency response efforts require water treatment systems that are lightweight, durable, and capable of operating in unpredictable environments. Access to water sources during natural disasters and humanitarian crises is often limited, and systems must treat water quickly and effectively. Traditional UV systems can introduce challenges such as mercury bulb fragility, warm-up time, and high energy demand. For mobile response units that may operate in remote or off-grid locations, these limitations can reduce reliability and slow response.
Innovation
AquiSense provided Resylia with the PearlAqua Deca 30C, a compact UV-C LED water disinfection unit, purpose built for integration into mobile and decentralized water treatment systems. Installed within the COM-W platform, the Deca 30C complements the system’s multi-stage treatment process including: sediment filtration, activated carbon, membrane filtration, and finally UV-C LED disinfection. Unlike conventional UV systems, the Deca 30C operates with instant on/off capability, allowing the unit to disinfect water only when flow is present. This is particularly valuable for emergency response systems where power availability may be limited and intermittent. By eliminating warm up time, our technology maximizes energy efficiency and preserves battery capacity. When paired with COM-W’s optional solar panel and battery module, the result is a fully autonomous system that can be carried by a single person and reliably deployed in the most extreme and remote disaster zones.
Result
This collaboration directly supports faster response times and improved access to safe drinking water for affected communities. Greatly reducing waterborne disease risk in places where basic resources are needed most.
