PearlAqua Deca 30C Becomes First UV-C LED System Certified to NSF/ANSI 55 Class A

PearlAqua Deca 30C Becomes World’s First UV-C LED System Certified to NSF/ANSI 55 Class A

·       NSF 55 Class A certification marks a major milestone for UV-C LED technology in drinking water treatment.

KENTUCKY, US The world leader in UV-C LED water treatment systems, AquiSense Inc., is proud to announce that the PearlAqua Deca 30C has achieved NSF/ANSI 55 Class A certification, making it the world’s first UV-C LED water treatment system to achieve certification to the Class A standard.

NSF/ANSI 55 is a National Science Foundation standard developed to certify UV treatment systems for use in drinking water applications where pathogen contamination is of concern. In addition to efficacy in microbiological reduction, NSF requires extensive material performance and structural integrity testing toward certification. The standard distinguishes UV treatment systems into two classifications. Class B systems are intended for supplemental treatment of disinfected drinking water, while Class A systems are designed to inactivate or remove microorganisms from contaminated water.

Achieving Class A certification represents an important step forward for UV-C LED technology and demonstrates its readiness for increasingly demanding drinking water treatment applications. The PearlAqua Deca 30C was developed by AquiSense in 2024 as a compact, mercury-free alternative to conventional UV treatment systems. Using UV-C LEDs rather than conventional lamps, the platform provides instant on/off operation, flexible power cycling, and a compact footprint all while eliminating mercury from the treatment device.

“Another significant milestone has been reached with the certification of the Deca 30C. This achievement supports our direction to provide not only a mercury-free alternative for disinfection, but also to bolster our regulatory profile,” said Cody Schumacher, Regulatory Manager at AquiSense Inc. “Users will find the Deca 30C to be a reliable and powerful device suited to a broad range of treatment needs. As the industry shifts toward LED technology, we believe establishing this level of validated performance is essential.”

The certification builds on AquiSense’s continued investment in third-party validation and regulatory acceptance of UV-C LED water treatment technology. This certification is about more than a single product though, NSF/ANSI 55 Class A has long represented an important benchmark for UV drinking water systems. Achieving that benchmark with UV-C LEDs demonstrates that the technology has reached a new level of maturity and gives customers another validated option when evaluating the future of their UV treatment systems.
