AquiSense Inc. Achieves Milestone with UV-C LED Technology on International Space Station Water Dispenser
AquiSense Inc., a world leader in ultraviolet (UV) LED water treatment systems, is proud to announce that the company’s UV-C LED technology has been successfully integrated into NASA’s Potable Water Dispenser aboard the International Space Station (ISS) and has been operational since August 2023. This marks a major advancement in space-based water treatment capabilities and underscores the vital role of advanced water treatment technologies in supporting life beyond Earth.
The Potable Water Dispenser (PWD), designed by Leidos and equipped with AquiSense’s PearlAqua Micro point-of-use UV-C LED treatment system, was launched into space aboard the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. Designed to provide safe and clean drinking water for astronauts on the ISS, this innovative system represents a successful collaboration between AquiSense and Leidos, a global leader in aerospace and defense solutions.
Using the popular PearlAqua Micro platform, AquiSense delivered the UV-C LED system within the PWD, including the following highlights:
