Surface Treatment

AquiSense’s range of products has been designed specifically to revolutionize the way you disinfect surfaces. From disinfecting surfaces and PPE equipment in hospitals to personal items such as car keys and smartphones, our range can be used to meet any need.

What is a Surface Treatment?

Surface treatment is the means of disinfecting a surface with an array of UV-C LEDs to either reduce or destroy harmful bacteria and pathogens that might be present.

If surfaces are left untreated, it can lead to harmful and even deadly growth of pathogens. In order to reduce and destroy these harmful bacteria, our range of products use UV-C LEDs to expose a surface to a wavelength that is able to reduce and destroy pathogens.

How does it work?

Disinfecting a surface with UV-C LED is easy to do with AquiSense products. Simply and safely, expose the surface or equipment to the UV-C LEDs at a specific wavelength to target harmful bacteria and in a matter of seconds, the intensity of the UV-C LED light will significantly reduce and destroy the bacteria that is present on the surface.

Unlike mercury lamps, our range of surface disinfectors does not use harmful mercury meaning it is more energy-efficient and safer to use. With instant on/off capabilities, there is no wait time for the LEDs to warm up and zero heat transfer.

What is the PearlLab Beam™?

The PearlLab Beam is a compact Collimated Beam Device which employs UV- LEDs and emits radiation in the germicidal range. Its small size and ease of use allows the realization of a tabletop homogenized UV delivery system which can be operated in virtually any laboratory or field locations. The PearlLab Beam features a narrow band emission and is available in a suite of individually addressable wavelengths without the use of filters. As full UV-C intensity is reached in under 10mS, the use of a shutter is not necessary.

Air Treatment

AquiSense is a leader in UV-C LED disinfection. We manufacture and develop laboratory research tools in addition to air, water, and surface treatment products. AquiSense operates as a business to business company supplying components to laboratories, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and distributors within the manufacturing space.

What is Air Treatment?

Air treatment is the process of using a UV-C LED to disinfect, reduce and even destroy harmful pathogens and bacteria in the air. Airborne diseases and bacteria can wreak havoc on delicate systems or sterile environments. Our UV-C LED systems can provide air disinfection through precise UV disinfection and an innovative LED reactor design.

How does Air Treatment Work?

At AquiSense, we have developed UV-C LEDs to treat air and destroy harmful bacteria that might be present.

Air treatment works by exposing the air to UV-C LEDs that have been collaborated to a specific wavelength that is powerful enough to destroy any contaminates.

By introducing a filter, or filters, to an air treatment device, it increases the effectiveness of the system and the quality of the air passing through the device.

What can Air Treatment be used for?

There are many applications for the PearlAero™ to be used to treat air. For example:

Small confined rooms

In the case of small rooms that have very little airflow and not many windows, the PearlAero Micro™ is able to not only purify but treat the air within that space, making it cleaner and safe to be in.

Recirculating air-flow

One of the biggest drawbacks of air circulation systems can be the build-up of harmful air-borne bacteria due to the lack of sufficient airflow. Simply attach the PearlAero Micro to the recirculating system and purify the air every time it is circulated.

Small research rooms

Research labs have to meet a high standard of cleanliness in order to carry out important experiments and investigations. As a result, most labs will recirculate air as a way to control any harmful bacteria entering the lab externally.

Using an air treatment device, like the PearlAero Micro that has been designed to be used in laboratory environments is a perfect way to ensure the air within the lab is disinfected and that there is zero chance of outside contamination by air.

Food & beverage process rooms

Just like laboratories, food, and drink processes and preparation rooms have to meet high government-grade industry standards. Employing an air treatment system within the rooms will ensure that there is no contamination of air being drawn into the rooms.

Humidifiers

While a great way to add moisture to the air and fight the risks of dry skin and sore throats, humidifiers can be equipped with an air treatment device to ensure no harmful bacteria and pathogens are being shot into a room.

Odor control on fume hood

Fume hoods are used in laboratories to prevent researchers and scientists from being exposed to harmful and unpleasant gases. These hoods are normally affixed to an extraction fan to ensure these particles do not enter the lab.

By using an air treatment system and fitting it to the fume hood, it can help remove and destroy any harmful odors that might linger on the fume hood. Reducing any unpleasant smells that might otherwise linger around.

So much more

These are just a few applications for air treatment devices, in truth, there are so many more applications for air treatment systems ranging from cleaning the air in busy factories to removing odors in public restrooms.

What is a UV-C LED?

UV-C light is a type of radiation that can be found on the electromagnetic spectrum and is measured in nanometers (nm). Invisible to the human eye, UV-C is an effective disinfectant due to the density of its wavelength.

There are three ranges to UV light – UV-A, UV-B, UV-C, and Vacuum-UV:

  • UV-A – otherwise known as black light, it has the longest wavelength, ranging between 315nm to 400nm
  • UV-B – known as the medium wavelength, ranges between 280nm and 315nm
  • UV-C – the shortest wavelength, ranges between 200nm and 280nm.

UV-C is germicidal, meaning it can be used effectively as a disinfectant to kill microorganisms, such as bacteria and viruses.

When the DNA of microorganisms absorbs UV light, it stops them from being able to reproduce and duplicate, thereby preventing their growth.
